In recent years, the topic of our microbiome has gained proportions that match its importance. After all, many already consider the intestine to be the main organ of the body due to the quantity and relevance of its functions.

You may have heard that the intestine is our second brain, but do you know why? In addition to having half a billion neurons there, we produce more than 30 neurotransmitters normally attributed to the brain (hence the beginning of the word "neuro"). Among them is the much-valued serotonin, one of the neurotransmitters responsible for the feeling of well-being. The person responsible for this connection between intestine and brain is the VAGUUS NERVE, which since our embryonic formation has been responsible for being a two-way street between these two organs. Therefore, to have a brain functioning at full capacity, it is essential to also have a intestine that is well looked after and functions in the best way possible.

The main key to this is to take care of our microbiome, the set of microorganisms that inhabit us. In more precise terms, microorganisms are part of our being, as we have 10 times more of them in our body than in our cells. And, far beyond just co-existing, we are widely influenced by these bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa that even determine some of our behaviors and susceptibility to diseases.

Dr. Pedro Schestatsky, in his participation in the web series Sistema Regenerativo da Floresta ( Watch here ) states categorically about our microbiome: "we need to diversify it, water it, fertilize it, and bringing the forest into us is a wonderful way to do it."

In the same web series, Dr Duprat adds: "our microbiome has been proven to be related to diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, autism and autoimmune diseases. The health of the beings that inhabit us is as important as the health of our cells"

And how can we guarantee an intact, strong and healthy microbiome? Essentially through foods that were part of our evolution, that's why Mahta searched the macrobiome with the greatest biodiversity in the world for foods with which we evolved, densely nutritious, pure, rich, real.

Think that at each meal you choose to care for your little beings or punish them. Which one have you chosen?
